2-D Compositions
A 2-Dimensional composition can be defined as an interesting arrangement of various shapes i.e. the objects having only two dimensions (the objects which have only length and width but not the thickness). Based on the size and scale of the objects in relation to the picture frame, a 2-D composition can be classified as – Closed and Open Compositions.
Students' sketches
Closed composition – In a closed composition, objects are drawn in such a way that they are contained within the outer boundaries of the picture frame.
Open composition – In this type of composition the objects look unrelated to the size of the frame, creating an impression of extending beyond the boundaries of the frame.
